Other 50s-redux vibes surface in the title trackвЂ™s hallucinatory swirling Sondheim-meets-Lesley-Gore showtune, the Del Shannon-through-a-Telenovela-lens melodrama of Dominoes with its bobbysoxer chorus, the Distel-like boulevardier sophistication of Le Bon Moment delivered in (slightly QuГ©bГ©cois) French, and even the playground simplicity of In On A Wing given a Berlin-Bowie twist with robotic sha-la-las, cheesy early synth tones, and Frippish fuzzed-up flurries. Or perhaps the wit and perception of her lyric writingвЂ¦ or the invention of the final production.Дark Cash cowboy-country underlies Shadowland and Hundred Mile Wind, with twangsome baritone guitar and apocalyptic lyrics in the former, and sweeping synth-strings, stinging brassy slide and striking dirt devil imagery in the latter. it might be her magpieвЂ™s eye for a tune, plucking gems from across 50 years of classic popular songwriting and combining them to stir nostalgias you didnвЂ™t even know you had. Plunger donвЂ™t know what it is about Lynne HansonвЂ™s follow up to the excellent Just Words that gives us a feeling of warm inner contentment (like the aforementioned bakery items) but it does.ДЄ lot of it is doubtless down to her resonant, self-possessed voice (a вЂњstunning Cher-cum-Helen-Reddy contraltoвЂќ as we previously described it) that even in the darker material radiates both glowing strength and surety, as well as a honeyed seductiveness.
